IB course
The International Baccalaureate
Senior High School at Sakado, University of Tsukuba is the first authorized IB school in Saitama, granted in February 2017. Our school introduced the IB Diploma Program, which is targeted for 1st and 2nd graders in high school, to the students who entered our school in the school year 2018.
The IB aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
The IB program encourages students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be live in harmony and mutual respect.
Students of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme belong to a SG class, where they learn various skills that are essential for IBDP subjects. They belong in a small group in the first grade, and focus on DP subjects in the second and third grades.

Skills needed for DP in our school
Students learn two subjects in English and four subjects in Japanese. They can enhance academic skills both in Japanese and English. It is essential to possess skills in critical thinking and have basic knowledge in the subjects of Japanese language, mathematics, biology, history as well as English.
※Students learn compulsory subjects of the first grade and other subjects in Japanese.
Fees required for the Diploma Program
On top of the payment of the enrollment tuition, an additional fee for this program is required. Also, in order to obtain the diploma, there are additional fees for final examinations.
